The Sovereign Sky-Hold & Star-Gazer Scriptorium
“The Silence begins in the stark floating peaks of Shroudspire. Among the Shadow Clan, few noticed the change, if they noticed it at all. But when the hush reached Auralith, all of Atheria seemed to fall to its knees...”
Vertically carved into the pale-blue mountain faces and wind-whipped floating sky-islands, Shroudspire is a nation where physical elevation mirrors metaphysical purpose. The cloud-seas obscure the lower basalt passes, trapping the cold silence of the peaks within flawless panes of Skyglass. Here, weavers solidifying raw shadow and light must balance their personal Core Notes against the volatile high-altitude currents of Kalthyr.
When Shroudspire was annexed into the Resonant Accord, the mages of the peaks drafted strict bills to secure their acoustic sovereignty. Under the final Treaty of Ink and Men , the Blackwake Shadowmen officially became sole operators of the global courier's notebooks. Yet, profound friction remains: the traditionalists protect their secretive scripts from Giltway’s censors, refusing to allow their ancestral narratives to be cataloged or "scrubbed clean" under the Accord.
Unbound by gravity, the courier shadowbirds slip through freezing air, carrying messages written in shadow-binding inks across the continental spine.
“Words written carefully carry more weight than words scattered freely. Choose your House wisely, or let the university choose for you.”
Nestled on a massive, stable mountain ledge where the wind halts and the cold relents, Lantern's Rest serves as the safe harbor for weary pilgrims climbing the vertical passes. It is a waypoint of hushed conversations, hot tea brewed from mountain-moss, and flickering violet lamps. Just above this refuge, the star-mapping towers of the university rise into the thin air, tracking the lunar orbits.

“Lower your voice... the basalt wood here has long memories and the current has none. We navigate the Vein Beneath, where resonances return to be used again.”
Deep within the craggy basements of the peaks lies Lower Shroudspire, a labyrinth of basalt docks and light-nullifying caverns. This is the domain of the Blackwake Shadowmen, the fearless couriers who refuse to allow their records to be locked inside the Great Tree of the Accord. Suspended above deep, bottomless gorges are the shadow-solidification lifts—gondolas woven from stabilized darkness that descend straight into the subterranean currents.
