There you are, I've been waiting for you. And you've arrived precisely when you said you'd be here. I am glad you've come. Atheria is weird and chaotic, it's full of nonsense, and at times it can be confusing. This is all true, yes. But it is also adventure, laughter, and revelation. It's about our relationships to everything around us. Not just other people, but your relationship to your own emotions. No emotion is bad or negative. They are there for a reason. It's in our expression of those emotions that things can get difficult. I want to fully understand not only myself but what drives other people, and the human condition.
Too many people mistake empathy for sympathy. People think empathy is understanding another's feelings or the ability to put yourself in their shoes. But understanding is not comprehension. You can comprehend what a word means without feeling the weight of it. Conversely, comprehension does not equate to empathy. Empathy is so much more than simply understanding definitions or perspectives. That's only half of it. The rest is merely memorization and regurgitation. Archivists can do that. You're better than them. Empathy is also found in your behavior in response to that understanding. I will try to find a better way to articulate this.
As you can see, I'm scatterbrained and seem to jump from piece to piece. Sometimes I'm working on five or six different things. Sometimes I'm consumed by just one. The point is, this website and world project has served as my path of self-discovery. While I still have a long way to go, I've learned a lot—not only about myself, but of philosophy, human emotions, parenting, and understanding my life in active addiction. I've learned how it shows itself all throughout the world of Atheria. So remember to bear with me, because the paths here tend to shift according to one's inclination, rather than rigid infrastructure.
As you explore Atheria, I hope you gain a different perspective on life and the unexpected obstacles we're faced with in this world. Oh yeah, try to keep the corner of your eye out for randomly hidden passwords or keys. They will sometimes lead to neat widgets, hijinks, or little in-world funzies. Or you could find my left sock drawer—that's a delightful place. They could be strategically placed, or completely unrelated to what they share the page with. Or sometimes, if you look closely enough, you might find the little notes I leave for myself, ones that I forgot to write down in proper places. I leave them behind in the margins so I can one day use them. If only I could remember why I wanted them written down in the first place. Anywho, I hope you stay awhile.
Visit The Quiet Spoke Inn if you want a country setting and enjoy mallards, or venture to The Giltway Civic Center if you prefer the city life. If you don't know, then it doesn't matter which direction you take.
❤️ You matter. You are loved.
Every idea or memory is important and must be documented. Each carries its own resonance. Some can scale heights only imagination can go.Others, only last a short time. Their importance, in the moment, feels very much the same to me. Some I don't understand their meaning until I've forgotten and then stumble across them again. I have at least seven note-taking apps that all have more notes than I'll probably ever use. If I've put the same lore/writing in multiple places, then its extra important. If I write more than one piece on a specific subject, part of the lore or keep characters consistantly then they're extra extra important to me. But for all it's absurdity, Atheria never loses its core belief in just being a good person and care more that you have time to live and how you spend it. Rather than worry or argue about who gave it to you. I promise you, that it does not matter. Come walk with me, on a path between stars, realities are revealed to layer like harmonies instead of timelines. We are all playing the same song, on different waves, waiting to collapse into each another.
These are the unredacted, first hand accounts of encounters with Divine beings. Their birth, departure, and subsequent aaftermath of what happens when and ocean loses its shore. We begin with the Passage of the light to Vaessa and Lysera's unravelling into Rootmother. Eons pass. At the edge of the world, where Vassea keeps the Lantern turning, waits for First Shadow, Arenox to return from the dark. When he does not, she goes into the Black Pine forest in search of him. Both lost in Elsewhere now. The place of unfinished, forgotten things. Its where the unmapped end up. Without Vaessa and Arenox, apathy spreads like rot. And, Echorin, having the ability to map emotional resonance, is charged with finding them. But he must learn the lesson of empathy without being consumed by it.
Ten notebooks, written by Lysera, hold the knowlegde he needs. He must find all ten, to learn how to truly love another without losing himself.
If you encounter, The Earworm Do not be afraid. He's just a distorted manifestation of yourself.
