The plants we catalog are deeply emotional beings.

If a healer speaks with an angry, discordant voice nearby, the sap turns to a volatile, hot-tempered acid that blisters the leaves within seconds. Yet, if we play the low, steady vibration of the Viren bell-chord, the roots soften, releasing a gentle warmth that balances the soil's nitrogen index perfectly.

Every apprentice, from Nesta Thimble-Weave to the heavy-footed rasket Pummel-Foot, must learn this dance of timing and tone. We do not plant to conquer the soil; we plant to give our silent griefs a clean, green mouth through which they can finally breathe.
