The Great Library of Plangency • Temple to Virelia
Welcome to the central library of Auralith, a multi-story cathedral of knowledge dedicated to Virelia, Goddess of Communication. Here, history is not written in red ink; it is preserved as living, resonant sound.
Look around you. The shelves are carved directly into the stone walls, accessed by spiral staircases and floating reading platforms levitated by tuned crystal anchors. You will not find paper books here. The Echo-Binders (our master librarians) preserve history, magic, and memory within shimmering crystal matrices called Memory Lenses. Reading alcoves are equipped with personal glow-lamps and silence wards to ensure your perfect concentration.
Hover over the aevestone crystals to attune your resonance and "listen" to the archives.
"To heal the body, you must first find the memory of health, introduce the resonant frequency to restore it, and anchor it to ensure it lasts into the future. Performed only by the Lumen-Cantor."
"No fact, text, or discovery may be studied in isolation. It must be illuminated by its entire context. To remove context is to cast a shadow on the truth. We preserve the uncomfortable histories so they are not lost."
"...the Stability Weave... a tragic necessity. The old leaders have faded back into the earth. The Proctorate of Pure Tone now oversees all memory. Do not listen to the unapproved songs..."
(Record corrupted by Director Scythe)
"We turned the glass and found it full of knives... Choirs once braided gates from moonlit kelp; now every note checks doors and counting stones. If you come late, come gentle..."
The most famous room in the Archive. This domed chamber lays bare the principles of resonance—a soft word spoken at one focal point can be heard with perfect clarity on the exact opposite side of the room. It is a physical manifestation of the Vow of Sound.
